Restoration of Villa Storck
Villa Storck is a glamorous historic stone mansion situated on the Black Sea promenade near Balchik, Bulgaria. This architectural treasure, dating back to the Roaring Twenties, was originally designed by Frederic Storck and Cecilia Cuțescu-Storck, with its exterior marked by a fortress-like façade, dramatic loggia arches, and panoramic views over the sweeping coast. The villa’s elegant interior features heavy oak doors, Florentine-inspired stone fireplaces, classic layouts, and decorative friezes and balustrades that evoke a sense of heritage and artistry. Our team at Structural Design, working in partnership with architect Vladoimir Popov, was honored to be a part of Villa Storck’s recent restoration and reconstruction. The process involved detailed preservation and enhancement of the villa’s original features—structure, murals, domed chambers details, and lavish terraced landscaping—all carefully restored to reflect the spirit of its artistic founders and the prestigious history of Balchik’s “White Town” era. We combined time-honored techniques with innovative restoration solutions, ensuring that the building’s architectural integrity, beauty, and cultural value will remain accessible to the public for generations to come. Villa Storck stands today as a prime example of the historic conservation and restoration work that defines Structural Design’s commitment to protecting and revitalizing Bulgaria’s architectural heritage.
